Day 32
Today was the last day of Nurse Assistant Training! It was a crazy three weeks, but I met some great people and learned a LOT. We spent two weeks in a classroom for 6 hours a day learning the basics and practicing skills on each other. Let me tell you-brushing someone else's teeth is a little weird the first time. The third week was spent at a nursing home in the area where we were each assigned a resident to take care of during the day. Let's just say I've never made so many beds in my life, but they looked pretty frickin good when I was done with them. The residents were really grateful to have some fresh (young!) faces in the building and welcomed our help with pretty much anything. It's hard to imagine being old and no longer independent, but hopefully by working in a place like this I'll have a better appreciation when I'm old and still running around the block (just maybe in my motor scooter instead of on my own two feet :-).
The class was full of 14 other awesome girls. All of whom I would be lucky to work with in the real healthcare field someday. Hopefully the prospective PAs can stay in touch and maybe see each other down the road when we've passed bed making and denture cleaning! Thanks for a great three weeks ladies!

My Favorite Things
There are some things in life that just make a day so much better. Don't laugh. Also, these are not listed in order of importance...as witnessed by the first one.
-Triscuits: Most flavors (except Roasted Tomato-they taste like spaghettios), they're good with hummus, cheese, soup, on and on and on.
-People Magazine: I love the celebrity gossip. Guilty pleasure, don't make fun.
-Rainbows: The flippy floppies, not the Ohhhh it's a double rainbow business.
-Chocolate covered strawberries: So good-and really easy to make, even easier to receive :-)
-Tulips: Simple and gorgeous
-A Lot Like Love: Classic chick flick, but I could watch it a million times
-A new fuzzy sweatshirt: I usually wear the hood up, but I'm not trying to be ghetto. I just love new sweatshirts.
-Dress shopping: with my mom, we have surprisingly similar taste and she's always honest.
-Lemon-lime Gatorade: always the best flavor-so refreshing and delicious.
-Retro sunglasses: I used to think I looked dorky in them, and maybe I still do, but now I just don't care as much.
-Trashy medical TV shows (Grey's, Private Practice, Scrubs etc.): The drama just pulls you in!
-Night swimming: the water is always warmer at night and you can't see the fish...except their probably still there...
-Bic Atlantis Pens: they just write so smoothhhh
-my iphone. not to brag, but it's probably the greatest invention ever and I'm not really sure what I did without it.

-PostSecret: it's an incredible blog, a little intense at times, but weird to see someone's deepest secret who I don't even know.
Anyways...this list may seem incredibly materialistic, and I do admit I appreciate things like sleeping in on Saturday, world peace, and solving world hunger, but this is just an honest list of the little things that make my day a little better on a continuous basis :-)
